HTC Desire

I've been a Nokia fan for a long time.  However HTC and Android have taken up a lot of space in my imagination lately. I reviewed the HTC Hero awhile back. It is a very nice phone, maybe because of the older Android OS, I am not sure but it was not enough to pull me away from Nokia.

For the first time in many years I am not using a Nokia phone, I am using the HTC Desire. I made the jump without even trying it.But after 4 days with the phone I love it. Maybe it's the new Android OS, Maybe it's the HTC Sense UI, I am not sure. The interface is elegant. There is no voice to text on the Desire, which might have been nice, but I find the virtual keyboard easy to use with it's predictive input, even with my fat fingers.

I am late to the game with Android. But while using my Nokia phones, I've kept up Android advances either reading about them or listening to podcasts. I am hoping that voice recognition is added to the phone in the future, like the nexus, but I am doing fine without it.

So for someone who thought they'd never go for a touch only interface on a phone, and also thought Nokia would always bring a phone out that I liked, I am loving my HTC desire. I will provide photos and a long term user experience with the Desire as I learn more about it.

If you've read my HTC Hero review the one app I really liked was google sky. That was the first app I downloaded. Also there is now turn by turn directions which I will also report on.  So far there is nothing I don't like about the HTC Desire. After a couple of charges and  management of my 3G data and wifi connection  I am getting 2 days out of the battery.

The HTC Desire has a worthy name.
